Dal Bhaat Organic Unpolished Masoor Malka (Whole Skinless Red Lentil) – 450 g is a distinctive and nutritious variety of masoor — the whole red lentil with its skin removed, revealing a beautiful salmon-pink grain that cooks into a smooth, hearty dal. A staple across North Indian and Pakistani kitchens, masoor malka is celebrated for its rich earthy flavour and remarkably quick cooking time among whole pulses.

Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container after opening. Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture to preserve freshness.
- Rinse the masoor malka 2-3 times. Optionally soak for 30 minutes for faster, smoother cooking.
- Add to a pressure cooker with water in a 1:3 ratio, a pinch of turmeric and salt.
- Pressure cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes (about 3 whistles) until completely soft.
- Let pressure release naturally, mash lightly, and finish with a tadka of ghee, cumin and garlic.
- Rinse well and add to a pot with water in a 1:3.5 ratio.
- Bring to a boil, skim off any foam, then reduce to a medium simmer.
- Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until each lentil is completely soft.
- Season with turmeric and salt, then add a hot ghee tadka of cumin, onion and tomato.
- No soaking strictly needed — being skinless, masoor malka cooks faster than whole lentils with skin.
- Rich in iron — pair with a squeeze of lemon juice which helps the body absorb iron better.
- For a creamy texture, blend a ladleful of cooked dal and stir back into the pot.
- Excellent in soups — cook until completely soft and blend with cumin and vegetable stock.
